MetaNotation Design Stage supports 2 architecture phases: 1. **Conceptual Phase** – In this phase MetaNotation captures Analytical notation of MetaSystem structure only (Short Analytical Version). It’s not semantically referenced by Semantic IDs; however every entity and connection is clearly identified by unique identifier. You can think about this notation in the sense of blueprint with shapes - but you don't know the inner structures not characteristics and attributes. ![[Pasted image 20230709113115.png|Figure 1: Conceptual phase with short analytical version]] 1. **Contextual Phase** – In this phase #MetaNotation captures Analytical notation of MetaSystem together with all attributes (Long Analytical Version). All Entities, Connections and Attributes are semantically referenced by Semantic IDs. These references are possible from local semantic master index (local repository) or distributed external index. All semantic references must be identified during contextual phase in order to maintain assigned correct version of semantic index, so any possible changes to referenced semantic index won’t affect MetaSystem definition. This will also enable translation of defined MetaSystem into new, upgraded version of semantic index (propagated semantic updates). Moreover this technique enables proper integration of semantic indexes owned and maintained by 3rd parties and independent (Linked Data or Open Data) communities. ![[Pasted image 20230709113146.png|Figure 2: Contextual phase with long analytical version supporting semantics]] *Note: Semantic IDs inside at diagram above are manually created as examples to demonstrate semantic integration. To summarize design stage of MetaSystem definition, it is possible (and in many cases vital) to start with Concept (conceptual phase) only, but it is also inevitable to progress into contextual phase with **full semantic recognition** for distribution purposes and usability beyond ecosystem simulations. ## Related to [[MetaSystem Distribution and Integration]]
